Kinesio Taping at Parkdale Physiotherapy
Kinesiotaping is a relatively new technique that has gained popularity over the last 5 years or so. Many elite athletes such as Lance Armstrong and Kerri Walsh (Gold Medal Olympic Beach Volleyball Player) have been strong advocates for its usage.
Like many techniques applied at the more competitive levels, kinesiotaping has worked its way into everyday therapy and has shown to produce many striking benefits. Some of these include:
- Improved circulation
- Improved Lymphatic drainage (especially around torn or strained muscles)
- Support joints or injured muscles
- Chronic Conditions such as Achilles tendinitis or Tennis Elbow
- Facilitate weak muscles and inhibit tight ones
- Improved performance primarily with throwing or hitting sports
All of this is accomplished in a subtle and non-invasive manner. The tape is hypoallergenic and very easy on the skin compared to most other taping techniques.
The tape is the exact same thickness as normal human skin and therefore can be worn for several days without issue.
